When using a method it is best to check a video before you begin. That way you can see how it works. You can also get an idea of how the finished results should look rather than get started and end up with something that does not look as good as it could possibly be. There is also the advantage of being able to pause and note effective repair techniques.

One method is to use toothpaste. This is strictly for use on glass surfaces and not plastic. If you use toothpaste on plastic it can damage the plastic surface. If in any doubt check it on a small corner rather than smear it on the whole thing to check that it is working properly.

Once the toothpaste has been cleaned off you should then dry off your glasses. This ought to be done with a non abrasive towel. You can then clean your lenses as usual using your usual cloth so that not only are your lenses scratch free but they are also properly clean as well.

With plastic lenses the approach is slightly different. You ought to use a specific plastic cleaner brand. Use a cotton swab and smear it onto the surface and then leave it on there for around five minutes. You then dry the surface with a non abrasive cloth and then wipe it with a cloth.

With plastic lenses you should use a plastic cleaner. These are available from hardware stores and the assistant should give you advice on the appropriate brand. The problem with using toothpaste on plastic is that it will damage the surface. As with the toothpaste method you should carefully smear the plastic cleaner on the surface, leave it for a while and then clean it off. You then need to remove all the cleaner and then polish it using your usual glasses cleaning cloth. This should then mean the scratch has been cleared off and that the surface will also be clean.

In some cases it may not always be possible to remove the scratches. There are various places where you can get professional scratched glasses lens repair. It helps to look online for places in your local area as well as feedback from people who have used their services in the past and are satisfied with the finished results!
